About Us
Play Tennis at Oakwood Country Club!
Teresa is a member of USTACoaching, USPTR-Certified and a USTA High Performance teaching professional and has completed multiple certifications, including the USPPR Pickleball Certification. Prior to becoming Director of Tennis at Oakwood Country Club, Teresa held the position of Senior Director of Junior Play for USTA North Carolina.
Instructional Programs and Clinics are taught by our certified coaching staff, led by Teresa and full-time Head Tennis Professional Jamie Megginson. Coach Jamie (USPTR) brings a wealth of coaching experiences from Divisions I, II, III for both Men's and Women's programs. In addition to Jamie's extensive coaching experience, she holds degrees from both Guildford College (BA) and James Madison University (MS), as well as a certification as an Academic Advisor from Kansas State.

Instruction will highlight gross motor skills, balance, eye-hand skills, & racket and ball control exercises to establish the young player’s foundation for tennis through fun drills and activities.

Orange Ball: Skill and age appropriate 60’ court and “right sized” equipment will be utilized for this short-court age group.
Our energetic instruction style to set proper stroke production and footwork, with emphasis on fun!

MATCH PREP INTERMEDIATE
(Green/Yellow) 11+
Both yellow and green balls are used for training to set up as introduction of tennis basics as a pre-req for new players to advance successfully to Yellow Ball Play. Green ball play is on a full 78’ court; green ball play allows for added time for this player to execute the right shot and transition to yellow ball play with more CONFIDENCE!
*Some classes may combine dependent on class size

ADVANCED COMPETITIVE and/or H.S. PLAYER
(Yellow Ball)
Players that have the basic skills can advance to Yellow Ball play that occurs in social, high school, and/or tournament settings. Players will continue honing basic skills and footwork while working on mental skills of emotional management and constructing strategic plans to assist with match success. Players will be appropriately challenged to earn success!
Tuesdays & Thursdays 4:30p-6:00p, $425/$480nm (7 weeks)

Tennis Programs (junior and adult) are scheduled for both indoor and outdoor court surfaces.
Any cancellations/schedule adjustments will be made based on local/state/national weather alerts and/or local public school cancellations, as well as our facility surroundings and safety parameters.
Indoor back-up and make-up dates are not guaranteed.
